The Kangen Water machine actually does nothing to water, it works on the dissolved mineral salts in your tap water. Tap water contains calcium and magnesium bicarbonates which are mineral salts. If your tap water contains a lot of those mineral salts, it means that you have hard water. Like all water ionizers, the Kangen Water machine uses electromagnetism to separate the minerals in tap water from the bicarbonate. During the ionization process, the alkaline minerals are drawn towards the negatively You’ve probably heard some pretty incredible things about the Kangen Water machine, and much of it is false. Some say it works by transforming ordinary water into hexagonal “microclusters” of water molecules, but that’s not true, or even possible. Water molecules don’t cluster the way Kangen water salespeople claim it does. So how does a Kangen Water machine work? The same way all other water ionizers work: It uses charged electrode plates separated by an ion permeable membrane to separate tap water into alkaline water and acidic water. Once the calcium and magnesium ions are separated from the bicarbonate ions, they undergo a reaction with water molecules called hydrolysis: Calcium and magnesium ions grab hydroxyl ions from water molecules to form new compounds, calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide.
